For over a year, there was one feature request that kept popping up in talking with the customers. They loved the core of Pittbos Contractor with its CRM-light, project estimate and proposal features. However, a consistent message was that they could not fully transition to using Pittbos without a work scheduling component. A big part of their post-sale backend workflow was missing.

We collaborated as a team to come up with the design language and code structure for the system.
Working in Sketch, Figma, Miro and React we created elements and components that made it super fast and easy for me to convey an idea or concept and the team could turn around designs and working prototypes over night. I can't advocate enough for defining a design system as you build products.
A truly lean machine. This team, delivered through challenging conditions in Ukraine. One of the best I've ever worked with.

Why are design reviews important?
I've sat, over the years, in many, many design reviews. One of the most difficult things to learn early on in my career was how to separate design critique from my personal feelings. It's something that quite a decent number of design colleagues and friends & I have discussed.
What I found was that it took effort & training from both sides. All too often, feelings would get hurt, resentment would linger, arguments would occur, and animosity could extend into subsequent reviews.
The catalyst for me, the thing that made start to examine this more, was almost 20 years ago now at a tech company in the SF Bay area. I was on the receiving end of an awful critique...
20+ years of Product Development, Management, & User Experience Design.
I am also a Musician, Sound Recordist & Audio Engineer, Photographer, Amateur Philosopher, and I love to cook.
I play bass in an all-bass surf-rock band called SeaBase. We just released an album.
I like to travel. A favorite was the Forbidden City in Beijing - imperial palace of 24 Ming & Qing Dynasty Chinese Emperors. Take a look.
I used to be player-captain on a competitive, adult-league ice hockey team, called 'The Gentlemen'.
